The Alamo and The Riverwalk

The first possible weekend to get away and we fled! Where other than to, The Alamo. The drive there was uneventful and pretty quick from our little town in Converse. Arriving in San Antonio we were quickly swept into the culture and bustle of the surrounding area. The Alamo was no doubt waaay cooler in real life than I had suspected and it was amazing to walk around such a monumental historical land mark. The coolest part was walking not only through the building seen in this picture, which is actually the church, but seeing the weapons and keepsakes found and restored to this place. Throughout our walk around the grounds there were folks telling about the historic stand at the Alamo and the brave men who died there. My favorite was the story of the general in charge of the defense of the Alamo who drew a line in the dirt with his saber and said that those who wished to defend the Alamo should step across the line, many knew they would not make it, all but one crossed! So very cool!

After our adventure into the Alamo we wandered around the little shops in the area and found our way to the Riverwalk. I thought it was a mall when we first went in, and I have seen me some malls. But on the lower floor it opened up into a virtual Italian canal...!! They had boat rides, shops along the water, restaurants, apartment building leaning over the water, and the most beautiful scenery I had seen yet. What was really neat is if you climbed the stairs upward it lead you to the streets and into downtown San Antonio, the whole city was right above your head with traffic rushing by and everything. From down here on the Riverwalk you would swear you where in some far off place... It was magical!!! We have already decided to go back on a date night and eat delicious seafood on the edge of the river... romantic yes?! And as usual we couldnt resist a kissing picture, and it was funny cause we are at the top of this bridge with people eating on both sides, just kissing like there is no one around lol, except for this guy at the bottom of the bridge taking a picture of us as well lol...
Coming soon... pictures of our lovely apt, and hopefully word from my husband!!
